E.N.S

The U.S. Military developed a method to improve their canine program in order to give the dog a superior advantage which became known to the public as the “Super Dog” program. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation (ENS) exercises could have significant and enduring effects when applied during a specific window of a pup’s life – days 4-16. These days are a period of rapid neurological growth.  ENS is designed to flip neurological switches in developing puppy brains and do a myriad of things. After day 16 we move onto new and ever-evolving types of stimuli. We use a combination of the Monks of New Sketes program and Puppy Culture.

The program consists of a series of exercises that produce neurological stimulation which do not occur naturally during this early period. These exercises are to be employed once a day on each pup.  The exception being if the puppies are sick or stressed. The exercises are as follows:

  • Tactical stimulation (tickle the toes 5 seconds)

  • Head held vertically up (5 seconds)

  • Head held vertically down (5 seconds)

  •  Flat handed pet down head and back (5 times)

  • Blow in the face (5 seconds)
  • Back time (5 seconds)

  • Thermal stimulation (cold surface 5 seconds)

  • Isolated basket (3 minutes)

Many benefits have been observed in dogs exposed to these exercises including but not limited to:

  • Improved cardiovascular performance (heart rate)

  • Stronger heart beats

  • Stronger adrenal glands

  • More tolerance to stress

  • Quicker stress recovery
  • Greater resistance to disease (esp. certain cancers and infectious diseases)

  • Greater human sociability

When tested, stimulated pups were discovered to be more active and exploratory than non-stimulated littermates over which they were dominant in competitive situations. They were also observed to be calmer in the test environment, made fewer errors, and gave only an occasional distress sound when stressed and recovered quicker.

We employ ENS in addition to the routine handling and bonding we provide to each puppy which is extensive. We are happy and excited to offer what appears to be an added advantage for your precious puppy.
